The amount you can gift to any individual per year without filing a gift tax return ($18,000 in 2024).

Example

Example: In 2026, you can gift up to $18,000 per recipient per year with no gift tax consequences. A married couple can give $36,000 per person. Grandparents gifting to 4 grandchildren can transfer $144,000/year ($36,000 × 4) completely free of gift tax or reporting requirements.
