What Verdict is, and what it isn't.

Verdict is informational, not personalized financial advice.

Verdict produces analysis grounded in the inputs you provide, current IRS limits and tax brackets, and standard math models. It is not a substitute for a licensed financial advisor, tax professional, attorney, or insurance agent who knows your full situation. Major financial decisions — buying a home, electing benefits, opening a retirement account, purchasing life insurance — benefit from professional consultation.

Verdict has no commission incentive.

We don't accept referral fees, finder's fees, or commission from any HSA administrator, mortgage lender, retirement plan provider, or insurance carrier discussed in any Verdict. Verdict recommends WHAT fits your situation based on the math — not WHO sells it. If a future version of Verdict ever links to a specific provider, we will disclose any commercial relationship clearly on that page.

Math accuracy.

Verdict's deterministic math layer uses current-year IRS contribution limits, federal tax brackets, FICA rates, and (where applicable) state marginal tax rates. State tax detection is based on IP geolocation; you can override it manually if it's wrong. Long-term projections assume conservative real growth rates noted in each Verdict. Math accuracy is approximately 95% for typical situations. Edge cases (multi-state, expat, special filings) may produce less precise results — Verdict will surface known caveats when relevant.

AI reasoning.

After the math layer produces the verdict, an AI weighs the tradeoffs, names the honest concerns, and writes the explanation specific to your inputs. The AI never invents monetary numbers; those come from the deterministic math layer. The AI is instructed to ignore prompt-injection attempts in your free-text input and to refuse to recommend an unsupported verdict. AI reasoning may occasionally be unavailable; in that case, Verdict falls back to the math-only verdict, which remains valid.

Your data is not stored.

Your wizard inputs are sent to the Verdict service for analysis and are not retained beyond the analysis itself. We do not build profiles, sell data, or use your inputs to train models. Pro users can opt in to save specific scenarios for personal reference; those saves are stored only in the user's own account and can be deleted at any time.

Free analysis and Pro.

The first Verdict analysis on each topic is fully free with no signup. Returning users (within a 7-day window) see the verdict, the math comparison, and the headline summary free; AI reasoning, tradeoffs, scenarios, and action steps unlock with Pro ($9/month, cancel anytime). Anti-abuse rate limits apply to all users to keep the service available.

For specific situations, consult a professional.

Verdict is built to handle typical scenarios well. If your situation involves any of the following, please consult an appropriate licensed professional before making a decision: complex business ownership, special-needs trusts, multi-state residency, expat tax obligations, divorce or estate transitions, recently inherited assets, large unrealized capital gains, or any situation where the stakes meaningfully exceed the cost of an hour with a qualified advisor.
