Editorial guidelines
- Length: Minimum 1,500 words. Data-driven, actionable content performs best.
- Original content only. No republished, spun, or AI-generated content without substantial human editing and fact-checking.
- Cite your sources. Government data (IRS, Fed, BLS, Census), peer-reviewed research, and established industry reports. No unsourced claims.
- No promotional content. Editorial submissions cannot advertise a product or service. Author bios may identify an employer or professional affiliation only when it helps readers understand the contributor's qualifications.
- Formatting: Use clear H2/H3 headings, short paragraphs, and include a "Key Takeaways" section. Reference a relevant FinCalcs calculator where appropriate.
- Expertise: Claims must be reviewed by someone with relevant topic expertise. Quantitative review covers formulas and models but does not substitute for tax, mortgage, insurance, legal, medical, or other subject-matter review.
- Editing: All submissions are edited for accuracy, clarity, and style consistency. We may request revisions before publishing.
- Links: FinCalcs decides whether an external source helps readers and may remove or qualify any link. We do not accept payment for editorial link placement, reciprocal linking arrangements, or requests to insert links into existing articles.
What we don't accept
- Gambling, cryptocurrency trading signals, or get-rich-quick content
- Posts that exist solely to promote a product, service, or affiliate link
- Pitches submitted primarily for link placement, search ranking, or insertion into existing content
- Content that contradicts established financial principles without strong evidence
- Duplicate content published elsewhere
- Posts under 1,500 words

Commercial proposals are reviewed separately from editorial submissions. Payment does not buy editorial coverage, ranking, favorable conclusions, or followed links. Sponsored work must be clearly labeled, independently reviewed, and useful without requiring a purchase.
A sponsor cannot influence calculator inputs, formulas, results, analysis, or recommendations. Paid outbound links use rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow" as appropriate, and the commercial relationship is disclosed beside the placement.
